Youth Hockey Registration
Welcome to the Strongsville Youth Hockey Club (SYHC)! Whether your child is brand new to hockey or has been playing for years, we’re excited to welcome your family to our herd. Here’s everything you need to know about joining our program.
🚸 Ages
Boys and girls who turn 9 to 14 years old in 2025 can join this program. Players who are 8 years old this year need the Hockey Director’s permission to try out.
📅 When
Skill trials are in late April. There will be some optional skills-based ice sheets during summer. Team practices start in late August. Games usually begin in mid-September and end with playoffs in late February.

🥅 Practices
Each player gets 2-4 ice times each week that are used for practices and home games. Practice days and times will be semiregular and predictable after the pre-season. Practices are typically no earlier than 5:45 pm on weekdays.
🏒 Games
This program has full-ice games. Teams play about 20-27 league games based on their Cleveland Suburban Hockey League division. This includes 8-12 pre-season and 12-15 regular season games. Coaches may also choose to join scrimmages and tournaments for additional games. The total number of games could range from 36 to 50.
🎽 Jerseys
Players in this program must purchase the SYHC home and away jerseys and socks. This expense is not included in the season's fee. Jersey sizing takes place in July.
💲 Additional Costs
Each team will have to cover expenses such as referee fees for scrimmages and tournament entrance fees. Total amounts vary by team schedule, number of scrimmages and tournaments. LATE FEES: SYHC provides a 25-day grace period for failed payments. After 25 days we will attempt to recharge the credit card on file for the installment amount due plus a $35 late fee. TRYOUT FEE (DUE TODAY)
The tryout fee is the only amount due at this time. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid regardless of your attendance at tryouts.
- Skaters: $250
- Goalies: $150
TRYOUT SCHEDULE
Tryouts will take place from April 28 – May 2 at Brunswick Auto Mart Ice Arena for all divisions. Detailed days and times can be found here.
SEASON DUES & ASSESSMENTS (DUE AFTER TEAM PLACEMENT)
Players who accept team offers after tryouts and team placement will be responsible for the following season dues:
- 10U / Squirt: $1400
- 12U / Peewee: $1500
- 14U / Bantam: $1600 ALMOST FULL
GOALIE PROGRAM
Goalies who accept offers after tryouts are eligible for our Mustang Keeps™ program, which includes:
- Refundable $300 commitment fee (returned upon meeting minimum in-net commitment through December 15).
- Reimbursement of up to $400 for goalie equipment or training (receipts required).
- 10U / Squirt: FULL
- 12U / Peewee: ALMOST FULL
- 14U / Bantam: ALMOST FULL

Register
